There is a capacity now, that we are being given, to live more deeply within ourselves. It requires that we surrender to a Love that we have very seldom experienced. It is a Love that embraces all of humanity, including the suffering. This Love will not fix life, but will take us deep within ourselves, to the natural self that nourishes us, and nourishes life.

Through listening to our dreams, we hear this hidden heartbeat, the way the soul speaks to us and guides us, each according to our own nature. Through working with our dreams, we learn to be attentive to this Love and to weave it into our lives. This Love needs us, now.

"Just imagine what the world would be like if everyone knew the Self and the Holy Secret. Imagine how that would heal the interrelationship of all animals, humans and the earth."

Here are more dreams, from several different women. These dreams reveal the many faces of devotion.

A friend gives me a plastic bag of beautiful red, Mandan Bride, corn kernels. Inside the bag are three handwritten instructions. The first says that all kernels are sacred, and that the relationship between each kernel is sacred. The second, that one should never speak badly about a single kernel. Finally, that there is an energy for the most holy within oneself. This energy is specifically for this most holy, and not for anything else.

I look into a flower pot of darkness. It is empty. It isn't soil, it's just darkness. I put my hand into the darkness, unafraid, and then look deeper. Out of the darkness rises an ear of corn, and out of the ear of corn, a long-stemmed red rose.

I am walking in a Zen garden. All the stream beds are dry. Someone, somewhere in the garden, turns on the water. Now water is coursing down the empty channels, filling the stream beds. I am filled with such gratitude and joy that I clap my hands, and then I hear a hundred unseen people applaud. A fine spray of water comes directly out of the earth like a fountain, rising high into the air.

"I read that the water is stuck in the sky, " says my friend. Just then, the sky responds, pouring down a soft rain that is the same quality as the fine spray of water rising up from the earth. I say to her, "If people only knew the power of their attention."

I see in the distance an old, homeless woman who lives in the streets. Her legs are ancient and dark like the leathery skin of an elephant. I stop to listen to her. She is singing, and to my astonishment, her voice is incredibly beautiful. It's pure and strong, and many gather around to hear her. I expected her to be old, but then I see that her face is young and full of beauty. She turns to me and says, "It isn't enough just to listen to me. You must pay me."

I am walking down Main Street, and I'm thirsty. I go to a stream and try to drink from it, but I realize it's polluted. So I walk up the stream and notice that the closer I go to the source, the cleaner it gets. When I reach the source, where the water comes up out of the ground, the water is pure, and I drink this water.

I am sitting on a bed, after discovering, while ironing clothes, that I had a power which was lost to me, and that I was now regaining. I found that I could iron clothes with a magic little iron that didn't even need to touch the clothes. Then I discovered that it was also inside my hands, and I didn't even need to use the iron. I am telling my Indian husband that he needed to have patience with me, as I am regaining a power which I had lost. " I used to see myself as you saw me, but now I see myself for who I am."

I am told to speak to women about Hu, the presence of God. It is a power that women can know in themselves. I don't know anything about it, I think, but then I'm in a room full of men and women repeating the word Hu, a deep, resonant, sound. It is a great power, and I realize I did know this sound in myself, it was just hidden until now.
